What Compounded GLP-1 Costs Per Month — and Why the Number Moves
How compounded GLP-1 pricing really works: intro rates, dose step-ups, membership splits, and how to normalize any offer to one figure.
Ask "what does compounded GLP-1 cost per month?" and you will get a dozen different answers, all of them technically true and none of them the number you will actually pay. That is not because anyone is lying. It is because monthly cost is assembled from several moving parts, and providers show you the most flattering slice. This guide teaches you to reassemble the whole figure yourself.
First, what "compounded" means for price A compounded GLP-1 is prepared by a pharmacy rather than mass-produced under an FDA-approved application; it is not FDA-approved and is priced outside the brand manufacturer's list-price system[[cite:1]]. That is precisely why compounded pricing is so variable: there is no single national list price to anchor to. Each provider and pharmacy sets its own, and the number you are quoted is a quote — not a market fact.
The parts that make up your monthly number **The introductory rate.** Many offers lead with a first-month or first-90-day price that is not the ongoing rate. Find the "then" price, because that is what you will pay for most of the year.
**The dose step-up.** GLP-1 dosing titrates upward over time. If a provider prices by dose, your monthly cost rises as you climb the ladder. A low starting-dose price can look very different at maintenance.
**The membership split.** Some providers separate a recurring "membership" or "consultation" fee from the medication cost. Both are real money leaving your account each month; add them together.
**Billing cadence.** A figure quoted per month may actually bill quarterly, and a "per month" number derived from a prepaid multi-month package assumes you stay the whole term. Convert everything to true dollars per single month.
**Shipping, labs, and add-ons.** Cold-chain shipping, required lab work, and supplies are sometimes bundled and sometimes extra. Extras that are "optional" until they are not still belong in the total.
Normalize before you compare Here is the only fair comparison: total dollars per month, at your expected maintenance dose, after any introductory period ends, including membership and any mandatory add-ons. Run every provider through that same formula and the offers that looked cheapest on the landing page often are not. This normalization is exactly what the cost-value dimension of our [WeighScore methodology](/methodology) does — it strips the marketing and compares the real number.
Why we do not publish a single price here Because any number we printed would be wrong by the time you read it. Compounded GLP-1 pricing shifts with pharmacy sourcing, dose, promotions, and each provider's own strategy. Rather than quote a figure that ages badly, we grade providers on how honest and stable their pricing is — and we tell you how to verify the current number yourself. Treat any price you see anywhere, including in an ad, as something to confirm at checkout.
Cost is one dimension, not the whole decision The cheapest normalized price is not automatically the best value. A slightly higher monthly cost that includes real clinical oversight, labs, and monitoring can be the better deal — and a rock-bottom price attached to a punishing contract is not a deal at all. Weigh price against the other five dimensions in our [six-point checklist](/how-to-choose-a-glp1-provider), and understand what you are buying with [compounded vs. brand-name GLP-1](/compounded-vs-brand-name-glp1) and [is compounded semaglutide legit and safe?](/is-compounded-semaglutide-legit-and-safe)
Do the math, then compare Pull two or three quotes, normalize each to true monthly cost at maintenance, and only then compare. To see how providers stack up across cost and the other dimensions, browse our [reviews](/research) and side-by-side [comparisons](/compare).
Frequently asked questions
How much does compounded GLP-1 cost per month?
There is no single answer, because pricing is set by each provider and pharmacy and shifts with dose, promotions, and sourcing. The honest approach is to normalize each quote to true dollars per month at your maintenance dose, after any intro rate ends, including membership fees.
Why is compounded GLP-1 priced differently than brand-name?
Compounded products are prepared by pharmacies rather than mass-produced under an FDA-approved application, so they sit outside the brand manufacturer's national list-price system. That is why compounded pricing varies so widely between providers.
Is the cheapest provider the best value?
Not necessarily. A low price attached to weak oversight, no monitoring, or a punishing contract can cost more in the end. Weigh normalized price against clinical oversight, monitoring, fulfillment, and contract terms.
